The swing desk
The swing desk is the multi-day room inside The Velvet Den, a trading community that runs on Discord. Setups here are built to survive an overnight: wider stops, smaller size, and a thesis written down before the entry.
How the desk trades
Swing trading lives between the day trader and the investor. The desk holds for days to weeks, which means every setup has to answer one question first: does the thesis survive a gap?
- Built for the overnight. If a gap kills the trade, the trade was never on.
- Wider stops, smaller size. Room to breathe is paid for with position size.
- The thesis is written first. Entry, invalidation and targets exist before the fill.

Asked at this desk
What is swing trading?
Swing trading holds a position for several days to several weeks, aiming to capture one directional move rather than intraday noise. Stops sit at wider structural levels and size is smaller to match, because the position has to survive overnight gaps and news.
How long does the desk hold?
Typically days to a few weeks. Each setup states its own timeframe up front, along with the level that invalidates it. When the invalidation hits, the trade closes and gets written up; when the thesis completes, targets scale out in pieces.
Is swing trading beginner-friendly?
It is the slowest cadence in the Den, which gives a newer trader time to read the reasoning before anything moves. It is still trading: capital is at risk, losses happen, and everything posted is education rather than personal financial advice.
